Description of Significance SIGNIFICANT BECAUSE IT IS THE ONLY REMAINING COMMERCIAL BUILDING IN THE ALL-BLACK TOWN OF VERNON. BUILT IN 1920, THE ROCK FRONT IS A SINGLE-STORY COMMERCIAL BUILDING CONSTRUCTED OF RANDOM ASHLAR STONE. IT HAS A GABLED ROOF WITH WOOD SIDING IN THE GABLE ENDS. PRIOR TO SERVING AS THE POST OFFICE, THIS BUILDING HOUSED A GROCERY AND DRY GOOD STORE, AND LATER A POOL HALL AND TAVERN. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 6/22/1984.
